The Illinois State Board of Education has created what they call a "framework for action" with regard to educational technology. Here is their opening statement. Maybe it will help you. Education is at the heart of economic growth and democratic citizenship. To assure succes in global competition, the education system must undergo a profound cultural transformation that will fundamentally change the educational delivery system. The new model is based on a society of lifelong learners that collaborates on common interests, shares resources, and provides mutual support. Local communities utilize new partnerships, educational technologies, and the nation's emerging information infrastructure to transform teaching and learning all along the educational continuum from preschool programs to worker retraining. Learners of all ages are connected to a vast array of educational opportunities, thereby increasing educational equity for students of diverse abilities and for school districts with limited financial resources. The Illinois community of lifelong learners will build capacity for excellence at school, at work, and in community life. In Illinois, we are discussing our role in this vision and are beginning to see that role as one which addresses learning in a multiple-resource environment.
