CATALOGING HELP

I need some advice about cataloging books concerning World War II.

Should books about Midway, Hiroshima, Artic Sea battles, & others that
deal with areas outside of Europe still be classed under 940.54 or should
they be placed under their own geographic area (i.e. Japan - 952.06  OR
Midway - 990.969).

Also, what about the book "On Borrowed Time" (?940.53?)

I still have much to learn about cataloging!!
