I am using the portable scan program with the PHD PTC-620.  During the
scanning process (I had scanned about 1000 titles) the display read:
                57 * >
Another user left directions on how to clear this message,  (this is a
scanner that is used by all media specialists in our county) but this
process also erases all of the data in the scanner.  Ouch.  All that
scanning for nothing.

Does anyone know of a procedure to clear this message that will not clear
data?  Does this scanner need repair or is this just something that
happens periodically? (WHY ME!?)
