I posted a question about e-mail project sources a month or so ago and
got very little response, so I have compiled a list of sources which I
garnered from various places. I'm sure there are more that can be added;
these are a good start, I hope.
I have used IECC (Intercultural E-Mail Classroom) and had good success.
Their goal is "finding partner classrooms for internat'l and cross-cultural
electronic mail exchanges". You can subscribe to IECC at this address:
<iecc-request@stolaf.edu>; type subscribe in message line. They also
have a separate project component which you will learn about when you
subscribe to address above; its address is <iecc-projects-request@stolaf.
edu>; type subscribe in message line. You can see their archives to find
out the types of postings that are included if you do this:
  gopher ericir.syr.edu
    Other gophers and information servers
      North America
       USA
        Minn.
         St.Olaf College
          Internet resources
           St. Olaf sponsored mailing lists
             IECC
KIDLINK is another service which lists projects. There are several components
ranging from discussion groups to projects. All are for children ages 10-15.
You can reach them by gopher kids.ccit.duq.edu 70 or
                       telnet 165.190.8.35 login:gopher
These sites will show you archives. To subscribe to KIDLINK and learn about
their service e-mail to <Listserv@VM1.NODAK.EDU>. Leave subject line blank;
type subscribe firstname lastname in message.

I also reveived info from 2 subscription services (you will pay a fee for
these but they do much of the organizational/routing work which simplifies
a project which involves several schools).
WORLD CLASSROOM links k-12 classrooms to work together on structured
curriculum activities in several subjects. E-mail <manager@glc.dallas.tx.
us>. For sample:telnet 198.140.162.1 login: demo4.
I*EARN (International Education and Resource Network). Goal is for
students to use telecomunications in joint projects designed to make a
difference in the world as part of the educational process.
 For samle listings: gopher.igc.apc.org
                       Educaction & youth
                        I*EARN
For info. contact Ed Gragert, I*EARN Secretariat
                  345 Kear St., Suite 200
                  Yorktown Heights, NY 10598
                  ed1@copenfund.igc.apc.org
I have just started my first Internet project with 5th grade students; I'm
finding it a lot of work but well worth the effort! Hope this helps others
get started.
