Re: diamond & gem mines:digging for gold

Several years ago, my daughter and I went to Hot Springs, Arkansas.  In
the surrounding area, they have a diamond mine and quartz mines.  We
didn't find any diamonds, but won one in a contest.  We did find quartz
crystal points and clusters and that was more rewarding, esp. for my
daughter, because they were bigger and more impressive.  I'm not sure
what try have in the Carolinas, but I'd like to know, because we may be
visiting there this summer. Anyone have any ideas?
