Comrades,
  I also let community members sign books out from my library when they
ask.  I don't advertise the service, but respond to requests (if they
have a student in the school, I check it out to the student.  Otherwise,
I put an entry in the community category patron file.  I do not get
interlibrary loan books for them (I do that only for my own staff and
students) but refer them to the public library 4 blocks away for that.
