Connecting the Curriculum Project looks for examples Are teachers in your school making their classroom units and learning activities more real by connecting the various content areas? DPI's Connecting the Curriculum (CTC) project is looking for good working models to feature in publications aimed at audiences ranging from teachers and administrators to parents and community members. The purpose of this effort is to communicate the value of teaching that uses natural connections among traditional disciplines. A CD-ROM product is envisioned, along with printed materials for teachers and the general public. Of course, a picture is worth a thousand words, and project personnel are looking for photos and video clips, digitized or on standard media, that can be incorporated into the final products. Good examples of connected curriculum abound in Wisconsin. In many, the library media program plays a significant role. Perhaps your library media program is one of these. If so, perhaps you can share visuals of some kind that show involvement of students and teachers in a project or unit that connects two or more traditional disciplines (e.g., English, history, geography, civics, and the arts). For complete information on the CTC Project and on how you may be able to help, please contact Judy Peppard, CTC Project Coordinator at (608) 267-9289 as soon as possible. Production is scheduled for November. Thanks in advance. Richard J. Sorensen School Library Media Consultant, Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (608) 266-1924 E-mail: sorenrj@mail.state.wi.us
