Hello LM_Netters. Once again, I am calling on you for help. The elementary librarians in our district have a meeting on Monday with the superintendent regarding our classification status as it relates to our pay scale. We were notified of this today. We have several other concerns but have no time to do extended research. This is where you can help. I need to know, specifically from elementary LM Specialists, the following things: 1. How are you classified regarding pay? As teachers? Administrators? Other? 2. Do you receive extra compensation for having a Masters? 3. Are you on an extended contract? If so, how many days? 4. Is a substitute provided for you when you are absent? 5. Are you supplemented or reimbursed for expenses when attending professional meetings? Our district has had certified librarians for only 4 years. 11 out of 22 schools are covered. We are instructional personnel and are expected to teach in every class. We are not classified as teachers when it comes to teacher pay raises. Right now, we work the same number of days as teachers. There is a supplement added to the base salary but no compensation for having a Masters. We realize that the district doesn't know quite what to do with us and we want to establish the right policies for the future. Thanks so much for your help and please email me directly.
