My concern about fixed scheduling is where the library time is used as coverage for classroom teacher prep periods as demanded by the contract, and there is no time for flexible scheduling and planning between library media specialist and teacher. A library program taught in a vacuum has the same results as anything else taught without relevance for the student. The ideal would be a combination of both, regularly scheduled periods and available flex time. Shelley Glantz, Library Media Specialist Lead Teacher, Library Media Dept.
