I will add my opinion to one recently posted on the subject of hits.
This is a concern that I don't feel has been addressed adequately in the
Welcome to LM_Net Instructions. Should the answers to all questions be
posted as HITS , even though they have been TARGETS?

Personally, Idon't feel that the answers to all questions should be
posted as hits.
I believe that people who are interested in having a hit should send
a message to the person who asked the question requesting that they be
sent a hit when it is ready. When the hit is ready to be sent out, a
short message to that effect can be posted, giving additional people a
chance to request the hit. If the response is overwhelming, then it
would be appropriate to post the hit to the entire Net. If only 30
or fewer people request a hit, I believe it would be more considerate
of the other 4,000+ librarians on the list to send the hit directly
to the people requesting it.

LM_Netters have a wide variety of experience levels and and jobs even
though we have much in common through our profession.
Although it is interesting and educational to hear the concerns of
librarians at all grade levels, I don't think it is productive of the
time and pocketbook of M.S., H.S., and experienced elementary
librarians, for example, to make them scroll through a huge hit
pertaining to a basic question raised by a brand new elementary librarian
--unless a very large number of people have requested a hit.

I do agree with the previous opinion that Hits posted to the list
should be summarized. However, I don't think this is necessary when
sending a hit directly to an individual.
