Library LAN network to classrooms

Comrades:
  The superintendent wants the next step in LRC LAN access to be
classrooms.  However, he fears that there is a threshold where certain
CD-ROM databases will "crash" if too many people try to use the same
database at the same time.  I haven't heard of this problem from others
and we do legally buy site licenses for all our software.  Has anyone had
this "potential" problem?  Do I need to be concerned about it?  Or, can I
put his fears safely to rest?  Thanks.
