The TEXAS LIBRARY CONNECTION is soliciting school districts to participate
in the continuing development of the statewide database.

Funding from the Texas Legislature will pay for the upgrading of records to
full USMARC format and for the merging of records into the database and for
authority control.

The only cost to the district is as follows:
        substitute for librarian for one or two days while librarian
participates in
                training;
        disks or tapes to export district catalogs to send to vendor for
processing;
        postage to mail tapes or disks to vendor;
        librarians' time to export database, to take training, and to send
updates
                on a yearly basis.

NO FUNDING WILL BE PROVIDED DIRECTLY TO DISTRICT. District is provided
service for upgrading, merging or records.

Districts will be ranked according to the criteria listed in RFSOI
#701-96-009. Districts will be included in TLC in rank order as far as
funding will allow.

To request the RFSOI #701-96-009, please call Document Control at the Texas
Education Agency at (512) 463-9304.

******The DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF STATEMENTS OF INTEREST IS FEBRUARY 29******

PLEASE REQUEST AND READ THE RFSOI THOROUGHLY BEFORE YOU CALL ME FOR
CLARIFYING INFORMATION. EMAIL INQUIRIES ARE PREFERRED OVER TELEPHONE CALLS.
