The TEXAS LIBRARY CONNECTION is soliciting school districts to participate in the continuing development of the statewide database. Funding from the Texas Legislature will pay for the upgrading of records to full USMARC format and for the merging of records into the database and for authority control. The only cost to the district is as follows: substitute for librarian for one or two days while librarian participates in training; disks or tapes to export district catalogs to send to vendor for processing; postage to mail tapes or disks to vendor; librarians' time to export database, to take training, and to send updates on a yearly basis. NO FUNDING WILL BE PROVIDED DIRECTLY TO DISTRICT. District is provided service for upgrading, merging or records. Districts will be ranked according to the criteria listed in RFSOI #701-96-009. Districts will be included in TLC in rank order as far as funding will allow.
