After 17 years of being both a middle school and elementary librarian, I have recently started at a new elementary school where librarians, art teachers, music teachers, PE teachers, computer teachers(aides really) are all called specialists. I rather like that term. It shows we are on equal footing with teachers, but we are special in our own field.
