In my search for doctoral programs, I found that Information Specialist
reflects a degree in Information Sciences and Systems. The degree
focuses on creating, organizing, storing & accessing organized files
of information. So far so good. BUT the courses are all computer
related including various languages, hardware, software and analysis.
I don't think we can call ourselves information specialists. That title is
already taken. I for one have been a librarian for 13 years and plan
to keep my library with it's various media and computer accesses.
