If you enjoy military history, try Band of Brothers by Stephen Ambrose. It's an outstanding history of a company in the 101st Airborne, from their initial formation in the states through garrison duty in postwar Germay. The final chapter talks of postwar careers for surviving members of the original unit. One of those members posed an interesting question. "Is it accidental that so many ex-paratroopers from E company became teachers?" The book, which makes heavy use of personal narratives, is an emotionally compelling story of the bonding among men in combat. The ending should leave you with a lump in your throat.
