fiction subcatagories

Dear librarians,

I want to further sub-cat my fiction collection by themes of the fiction,
like Romance / War... Can body suggest a existing system on this. Also how
to arrange the books on the shelf after this re-cat? Still by author with
appropriate labels for id or arrange them in cats?
