Sorry Peter, but I have to disagree with your logic, though I agree that we must respect each other's point of view. If we are to serve our students as you say, we must first start from a conviction that our job is not just a job. That means I do what I do because of what I believe and I don't sacrifice that at any cost. While I am both a biochemist in training, a teacher and then a teacher-librarian by profession, I am foremost a Christian. I don't leave this behind when I'm on the job any more than anyone else does of other persuasions, though we might pretend to, but nor do I take advantage of the power that is given me in my job in a position of public trust.
