This is a redirecting of a TARGET I posted on 11/5. I requested info about
local area networks in schools and I have gotten several great responses,
but very little from elementary schools. I'd like to redirect my target
questions to elementary school LMS regarding their experiences with school
networks and the politics of technical support.
I'd appreciate responses to any or all of the following questions:
1) What type of network do you have?
2) What are the main uses of your network?
3) Do you have a CD-ROM tower and if so, how well has it performed?
4) What software titles used on your network would you recommend?
5) What type of system wide technical support do you have?
6) How often do you get assistance? (Regular basis, as needed, etc...)
7) Within your school, do you have a network manager, and if so who is it?
8) What are the primary responsibilities of the network manager?
9) If the media specialist is not the network manager, what is her/his role
in maintaining school hardware, software, e-mail, etc.?
10) What are the most common day to day network problems faced in your school?
11) Overall, how successful has your school's network been in meeting the
needs or expectations of your school?
Also, please give the size and grade levels of your school.
Thanks for your help!
