I too have the hand and wrist problem which is exacerbated by picking up to
many books.
I think alot of this stuff is genetic. My mother had bursitis which is
tennis elbow except her shoulder. My brother has gout which is related to
arthrities. I also do alot of hand work like knitting, painting, sculpting
and some embroidery which probably helped cause my hands to bother me in
the thumb and index finger. Even too much typing and mouse clicking makes
them hurt. Hard to surf when clicking hurts!!:-(

I am taking collodial minerals and vitamins (from GNC) and they seem to be
helping a little. Have been turning out sculpey figurines at night and my
hands are not as bad as usual. Gave it up for a while since it would make my
arms hurt and keep me up at night. Ibuprofen just alleviated the pain a
little. Heard about the minerals from a tape called Dead Doctors don't
lie which was done by a 1991 Nobel Prize nominee(Can't thinks of his name)
He said he would rather take the vitamins and minerals and find out later he
wasted his $1 a day than find out later he needed them. Interesting tape. I
you are interested in getting a copy, you can get it by doing a search on
Dead Doctors Don't Lie on Alta Vista on the web to find a site that will
send you the tape free. THey use it as a come on to order their supplements
, but I went to GNC instead! He also said taking Knots Gelatin daily
helps, and that patients with arthiritis in the hands were pain free after 3
months. Keep forgetting to get some to try! Has a lot of scientific
research to back up his claims from some pretty prestigious places like
Harvard.
