When I had a flood in my library the first thing I did was to phone the insurance company. The second was to make sure the water was spraying (it was coming from the ceiling) over all the books I _didn't_ want to keep (I had a very low quality of stock in those days). The books were written off by the insurers and I was able to renew with good new stock. Call me a cynical opportunist (and don't cross-post this to alt-insurers.net !) but the library and the kids gained significantly from this!
