Elem. Assistant

I've been reading (with envy) the different opinions of distinguishing between
assistant and specialist.  Today I was informed that I will have an assistant
for at least the remainder of this school year.  I am anxious to begin our
working relationship on the right foot.  Any words of wisdom will be
appreciated.  What does your assistant do?  Is there anything that
your assistant does not like?  Thanks!  Peggy
