Attention all Goodnight Mister Tom readers, Would you like to join in our online discussion of this wonderful novel? See below for instructions on how to subscribe to our Book Rap mailing list. Here is our first Rap Point on the book. There's alot to think about and write about with this one. When Willie is evacuated to Little Weirwold, he notices many differences in the life he lead in London and his situation in the country - differences in his surroundings, housing, schooling, clothing and food, differences in the sort of people he knows and their attitudes to him - all of which gradually work changes in Willie. List as many specific differences as you can, which illustrate why Willie's life with Mister Tom is so much better. Examples of points of comparison are: The items of clothing Willie arrived in and what he was wearing when he went back to London Willie's sleeping arrangements in London and Little Weirwold Examples of the differences in his treatment by his mother and Tom Examples of what Willie learnt to do at Little Weirwold which he couldn't do before. Enjoy your reading and writing. We look forward to an interesting discussion on this Rap Point. *** Please remember to address your comments to gmt@owl.qut.edu.au **** --------------------------------------------------------------- How to Rap 1.
