REF: Hearing-impaired People of Fame

Our 6th grade English classes would like to do a short research project on
people who have made a name for themselves who are also hearing impaired.

Some names mentioned already are Beethoven, Goya, Edison, Matlin, Swift and
a lady by the name of Kitty O'Neil.  I welcome suggestions to expand this list.
Also, who is Kitty O'Neil?
