I look forward to the time when the 'Net will be viewed as "just" another resource, another place to look for information, along with periodicals and their indexes, books and library catalogs, reference materials whether on CD ROMs or in print form, etc., and when people will come to view the librarian as a person to help locate information on the 'NEt as well as in more traditional sources. Not everyone has access to the 'Net at home, nor will they for the foreseeable future, just as not every parent has a set of encyclopedias at home for his or her child. Home encyclopedias did not reduce the usefulness of libraries, nor even the use of encyclopedias in public libraries or in schools. Maybe that is not the best comparison, but I think it's an appropriate one. <*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*> Joan Rosen | 500 Rices Mill Road Librarian | Wyncote, PA 19095, USA Cheltenham High School | (215) 881-6380 jrosen@mciunix.mciu.k12.pa.us | Fax: (215) 881-6406 <*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*><*>
