I like to think that all materials in a school are accessible from
the library database. In fact our previous "wonderful" business manager
(fired due to administrative politics) required that reference and other
materials bought by any department in the school be "logged in" to the
library system. This was to prevent duplication and be sure materials
bought and paid for really arrived at the school and stayed there.

I am working on putting the Reading Lab materials in the
database. Many of these will have only a call number, author, and title
entry. I would like to do more, but there is no time for that. In
theory, I object to having libraries located elsewhere than in the
library. The little urchins need to see the library as the place to find
knowledge, throughout their lives. But, other politics prevent this at
present. Bruce
