We have just begun internet use in our middle school. After a couple of
innocent (?) misuses of certain sites, we have begun investigating how
best to censor our student use of the internet. We did have permission
slips signed by both parent and student giving permission for students to
use the internet in our school. My aide and I always have students sign
in as to the reason they are using the internet and the time. So far all
has gone well. We are just trying Net Nanny as one means of censoring
but it seems the warnimg comes up of undesirable phrases and words but
the only two options at that point are to shut the computer down or press
ok and be aware of the possible xxx words. Any comments or discussion on
internet censorship would be welcome as we begin this journey.
