LM_NET: Library Media Networking

Well, here's the scoop---

Most people really liked the Media Retrieval Systems for many reasons. "It
gives you control of what's watched, saves wear and tear on the equipment,
eliminates the problem of students and teachers who don't know what they are
doing operating vcr's." After a sub ignored teacher plans this week and
showed 101 Dalmations, I like the idea of controlling/monitoring what is
shown, especially as my principal and I are concerned about copyright
infringement with movie rentals from Blockbuster.

Dukane Smart System, AMX, Rausland and Simplex were all mentioned by name
(AMX being the most commonly referred to) and all systems were fully
controlled by the classroom teacher who could stop, fast forward, play
another tape, etc. from the classroom.

There were a few comments about the time it takes to set a system like this
up (schedule videos, etc.) but most were positive (especially over newer
systems). I do think I need seperate tv/vcr units in the teacher planning
areas and the library for teacher previews, student make-ups, etc.

Thanks for all the wonderful help!
