Dear Group, I am in a K-5 school with at least one computer in every classroom. This year I thought there should be some very basic guidelines each teacher should have (next to the computer perhaps?) to direct the student in the very basic use of the computer. Last year it seemed that some kids looked upon it less as a tool but as a big toy. It sometimes led to disaster. This kind of guideline seems to be most important for grades 4 and 5 who really use computers more independently than the primary grade kids. I was thinking that 4 or 5 guidelines such as "Focus on task assigned" or "Do not trash". I am vague on what is needed but something is needed to give the kids some borders in their use of the computers. Do any of you have such general basic guidelines that kids are expected to follow, or on the other hand do you think this is unnecessary and useless?
