In our district library media specialists receive a yearly written evaluation from the building principal. In the past we used the same form that is used for classroom teachers. Finally, our district is revising the evaluation form so it is unique for the job description of library media specialist. I'm on the committee to revise the form. My question is: What would an "ideal" evaluation form for a library media specialist consist of? We want the form to reflect our responsibilities and roles, such as management skills, cataloging/organization skills, teaching skills, collection development skills, etc. What other criteria is important? We need to be evaluated on our technological skills, but to what extent? Should library media specialists be evaluated on how literate or "well read" they are? There are three library media specialists doing brainstorming for this revision and we will appreciate any ideas you can give us. If you have a good evaluation form that you use please send it to me. Thank you in advance. Sharon Slaney Library Media Specialist Lakeland High School Library Box 69 Rathdrum, Idaho 83858 e-mail: psslaney@nidlink.com fax: 208-687-1313
