Internet Explorer Favorites-on PC's

Can anyone tell me how to arrange the 'Favorites' in internet Explorer on
an IBM compatable?  On a MAC you can arrange them into folders and put them
in alphabetical order.  On the PC Internet Explorer (I think it's 3.0) you
can delete or edit(rename?)  The list is already getting too long.

Also, if I upgrade will it erase the favorites?  (It did on Netscape when I
upgraded on my Mac.)  How does one save the Favorites file on a PC (with
windows 3.1.)  I'm not a PC person, so please spell it out.
