The Board of Directors for the Wisconsin Educational Media
Association
(WEMA) had one of our five yearly meetings on Friday and Saturday May
9th and 10th. One of our points of discussion was School libraries that
were effected by the floods. Information that we have, indicates that
those that were involved in the floods, suffered total loss. Discussion
centered around feeling that we should do something to help those
schools libraries devastated by the floods. We had thought about
sending
books or posting a message on lm_net listserve and our own WEMA_L
listserve challenging others to do the same. With further discussion, it
seemed to us that money would help more than books. That way people
could select what they wanted rather than taking what they get. A motion
was made, seconded and passed unanimously to contribute $1.00 per WEMA
member to the North Dakota flood relief effort. The money to be used
speciffically by school libraries. This ammounts to $1,122.00.(Our
membership as of May 1997)

We will be issuing a check to the "Library flood relief fund" in the
amount of $1,122. This money is intended specifically for School
Libraries.

WEMA CHALLENGES ALL OTHER STATE LIBRARY, AND SCHOOL LIBRARY MEDIA
