I am posting a hit for the information that this 'finger tip' offered to
me! Wow, I am so impressed with the level of sharing and co-operation of
this knowledgable group.
Key words to try:
Coat of arms
heraldry

I searched AltaVista and did not have successful hits.
Excite gave me:
http://www.digiserve.com/heraldry/nationac.htm

http://www.panix.com/~wlinden/heraldry.shtml

A search from a LM-NET colleague on Infoseek resulted in:
http://econ10.econ.jhu.edu/heraldry/intro.htm

Another valuable suggestion was the use of World Book Encyclopedia.
A suggestion from Michael Marvel
Look in the Encyclopedia International it gives a line drawing of all
the
different coat of arms.
It's no longer being make but you still might be able to get a set that
is being thrown away.

I had a comment sent that a coat of arms related to a family not a
county. If you check the first website you will find that countries do
have coat of arms as formal ensignias. We all learn together. You raised
an interesting point Mary.

It was also suggested that this could be an interesting research project
using the internet as a resouce.

There are many databases on the internet for flags. the projects are
endless.

I hope this helps some of you in your future planning.

Keep resourcing,

P.S. In Ontario we are in school until the end of June and we go back in
the Monday after Labour Day. (some schools have a year round school
model so their calendars are a little different)
As an aside I have noticed that some of you are not in school now? A
minor inguiry - What is your school calendar?
