Hi, I am looking for information on White Pine or other similar software
that I can use on MAC LC III for terminal emulation.
We have a lab in the Media Center where we teach how to use our
OPAC. Our automation software is multiLIS through the INFOhio project. One
problem is that multiLIS requires extended keyboards with F and PF keys.
Our LC IIIs just have the number keypad. In the Media Center we have
terminals for the OPAC and Reflections on the computers that allows
keyboard mapping to over come this problem. In the lab we just have Telnet.
We are unable to do several functions of the software.
People in Ohio have suggested White Pine but I have not been able
to find it. Also I got a copy of the most recent version of telnet. When I
run it at home on my PowerMAC, I get a pull-down menu that shows me all the
extra keys. If I run it on older MACS, it is not there. Does it have
something to do with the operating system of the MACs?
Anyway it is all very frustrating. DRA is coming out with a web
version of multiLIS within a year or so I hear so it may be a mute point,
but in the mean time I would really students to be able to learn/search the
catalog as a large group.
