Regarding the recent conversations about having a list of recommended books at the ready in the media center, and with the permission of Peter Milbury: There is software out there that will allow students and teachers to create electronic forums where they can post comments about books they read. The one I am thinking about comes on a Mac diskette and functions sort of like a news group or electronic bulletin board. Books can be sorted by author, title, illustrator, date, and genre, and students/library media specialists/teachers can use the forum to select a book or to comment on various aspects of the literature -- everything from the basic plot line or favorite passages to significant themes. If you are interested, please respond to me and I can direct you to a review of this product. Pat Semple semple@well.com
