I know this has been discussed before but I'm still not sure if there is a clear answer to copyright and multimedia projects. Our students are doing hyperstudio projects and incorporating scanned pictures from books and magazines. We make sure the project has a bibliography which includes the sources for the pictures. My question is "is this a violation of copyright?" To me its the same as years ago cutting out magazine pictures to paste into a report. Was that copyright violation? In The Copyright Primer for Librarians and Educators by Janis Bruwelheide it sounds like this might fall into fair use. So my next question is can I take these projects to a conference to demonstrate what are students are doing or is that copyright violation? Are this questions too picky or is it something to be concerned about?? Mary Stoiber Webster Transitional School Cedarburg, Wi
