Thanks to those who replied about the MSTA/NEA question. My brother-
in-law was quite impressed and grateful!

For those who are curious--one person did not join because she
couldn't spare the money; another doesn't believe in teachers
belonging to unions; and the third thinks these orgs reward people
for length of service not for quality and that they protect people
who do not always deserve to be protected, among other reasons.
