Dear Librarians, I find this list to be extremely helpful and informative. I see people requesting help or information, and in almost no time they have answers to their questions. Librarians are great people! However, I have a question or concern about the surveys that have been posted. There was a lengthy one a few months ago supposedly by a library major in college. I emailed Peter to find out if he had given permission for this survey to be posted to this list; he had not been asked and he had not given any permission. Maybe I am being unduly concerned, but I don't answer telephone surveys, or personal questions asked by people that I don't know. Maybe my union background is showing through, but answering questions or surveys about my Library by unknown people scares me, after all, I work with children. I don't know that they are library majors or librarians. I don't know to what use they are going to put my answers. And frankly, my time is very limited and filling out surveys takes a great deal of time. I think that any survey or questionaire should have to be approved by Peter before it is posted to LM_NET, and if he decides that it is a valid survey that is worth our time and energy, the results should also be posted. I will not complete a survey that does not have Peter's seal of approval. What do the rest of you think?
