Sharon, We have a problem that is a little bit similar. We have one pricinpal that wants to make sure that the teachers have plenty of prep time and thinks by increasing library time is the way to give prep time to teachers. Since the media specialist is only in the building one day a week, he would like the aide to start reading to students and doing some of the reading guidence. NOT!!! We are trying to make an argument for the importance of a certified teacher-librarian being the only one qualified to "teach". Also librarians are teachers not babysitters for teachers to send students to for prep. time. If you get any good responses that may help us, please forward them to me. Thanks, Carla L.
