By all means empty the cache. It can actually slow down your computer to
have the cache constantly cleaning itself up.

I keep no cache at all (set to 0), and allocate more memory to Netscape.
This causes Netscape to cache in RAM. It is also known that disk caches
can cause file corruption (at least on Macs), so it becomes imperative
to run Norton Disk Doctor on a regular basis.

Netscape provides an option to erase the cache, under Options,
Network security, Cache. It's a good idea on a Win3.1x machine to do
this periodically, since a full cache will slow down the machine. If
you find you pc churning endlessly on high image sites, I've found
that emptying the cache works wonders. You don't have to do this on
MAC/WIN95 since Netscape will automatically delete older records to
make way for the new. The cache really only speeds up Netscape during
that day's session. The next day, it will start to slow down as it
compares previous dates on a page with the current date of the
session.

Good luck,
