Librarians shelve books

I have also answered Matthew privately about my opinion on shelving books.  I
don't do it.  If I had a ton of time on my hands, I would be shelving books.
However, I agree TOTALLY with those whose comment has concerned what an
administrator would think if I was doing what could more economically be done by
a student aide.  I will agree that shelving keeps one in touch with the
collection but I have other ways of accomplishing that.  I would love to have
the quiet time involved in shelving but I have students and classes demanding my
time and they are much more important.
This was my 2 cents worth!
