ELEM: Author bio sources

I am looking for sources for children's author info, something less involved
and expensive than Something About The Author.  What do you use?  Where did
you get it?  (One of my teachers asked about author info for some of
nonfiction she uses, but the only thing I've seen was of story book
authors.)  I'll post a hit if there is interest in this.
