Why not meet with the tech and discuss the reason for the proposed
restriction?  It could be a knee-jerk reaction to all of the negative
media hype regarding all of the "bad" stuff on the net.  Do you have an
AUP, did you have imput, what is the board's position, what is the
attitude of the community (conservative, liberal, etc.)?  Knowing these
positions may help you to convince or at least understand why you are
being challanged.  This may make your life a little less stressful.
