Target> Small Private School Automating

My wife's small Catholic School is thinking about automating their library.  I,
being a public school librarian, have little experience with this because our
district did automation in a massive sweep before I got here.  I said I would
help her out by posting to you all.  They are a MacIntosh School.
        Please send me any experiences you might have had including:
What software you chose (include approx. price please)
Whether you did the barcoding and labeling yourself or had a service do it. (if
you did it yourself how difficult was it?  It is a small collection and I think
with lots of parents it would go quickly).
Any other problems you encountered.

Does anyone have the software that has the child's picture on it?  I saw that
at a conference and thought it was awesome.  What is the name of that?  And
company?
