My policy on overdue books is that a child must return or pay for a book before taking any more books out. We don't have late fines. Five or six times this year someone has paid for a book and then found it. I have always said, if you find it, I'll refund the money. So we've been depositing checks and then writing new ones. Does anyone have a better system? All I can think of is to wait until June to collect and let the kids continue to take books out, but tracking some parents down and getting payment is hard and lengthy and I don't want to leave that all to June (by which time some could have forgotten the whole thing.) All ideas are welcomed!
