It seems to me that it would depend on what she perceives her job to be. For some of us (in schools) the selling of reading is important. For others, who might be more in managerial positions, or in acquisitions or reference, the job may actually be more focused on providing information to others rather than attempting to affect their love of reading. There are a lot of detail aspects of librarianship that I'm sure some people really love that involve organizing, efficiency, and creating a productive tool for information flow. I think, in a crazy kinda way, that one could be a very good librarian without liking to read for one's own pleasure, but I sure don't see how you could survive as a SCHOOL librarian without it. *)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*)*) Gayle Hodur Snail Mail: District Librarian Main Street Middle School Soledad Unified School District 441 Main Street (408) 678-3923 Soledad, CA 93960 ghodur@redshift.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= To quit LM_NET (or set NOMAIL or DIGEST), Send an email message to listserv@listserv.syr.edu In the message write EITHER: 1) SIGNOFF LM_NET 2) SET LM_NET NOMAIL or 3) SET LM_NET DIGEST * NOTE: Please allow time for confirmation from Listserv.
