Dear Pam et al, The "Don't Drink the Water" song is, I believe, Tom Lehrer's. It is on his album THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS (lots of his songs were used on the show That Was The Week That Was...does anyone remember that??) The song is "Pollution" and goes If you visit American city You will find it very pretty Just two things of which you must beware Don't drink the water and don't breathe the air. Pollution, pollution They got smog and sewage and mud Turn on your tap And get hot and cold running crud! The full lyrics can be found in the song book Rise Up Singing, a book for sing-alongs with words, chords and sources for over 1,200 songs (published by Sing Out magazine). Check it out at their web site at http://www.singout.org/sopubs.html This message comes courtesty of the *other* library I run (during weekends and school vacations), the New Song Library, with a web page coming soon, In a nutshell, it is a research library and archive of social justice songs, making them available to people who can use such music in education.
