Hi to everyone: I have been asked to help "design" the new shelving to be placed in a brand new library for a new K-12 private school for children with learning disabilities. I have also been asked to order new books and materials among other things. I would like some advice if there are those of you out there who would be willing to answer one or more of these questions: 1. What tips would you give on ordering new shelves? They want to go with custom built formica type, rather than metal stacks. (I know for instance, that in the library I now work at, the shelving is a killer because they ordered it with a 1/2 inch "lip" around the edge making it a pain to pull a book out!) 2. How many books do you think one could get for $20,000? 3. How would you design a librarian's desk? i.e., what features are absolutely necessary? 4. What funky, innovative features do you like that work for you? (example-a certain kind of book drop, a story corner with steps, whatever.) There will be two rooms only-one for K-8 with tables and stacks and one for high school, with study carels, I think, and computer stations in the middle. Thanks in advance for your help.
