HIT: Phonics Game

Many have responded that the Phonics Game was always checked out from the
public library, therefore popular, but that it is very expensive, $250.00.
Those who have
checked it out themselves really liked it.  The drawback besides the cost
is that it has many many pieces that could easily be lost.  Also,
laminating cards for lots of circulations is probably necessary.  One
mother said the cards were too large for a five-year-old to handle (there
are two versions of the game--Phonics Game Jr. is for the beginning
reader).

All in all the verdict is, it's a very good program (has videotapes, game,
and CD-ROM) but it does cost $250, which makes it prohibitive for this
library.  The phone number is 888-292-3468.  There is anothe program out
there called Hooked on Phonics which also advertises having a game.  I
think they are at 800-abcdefg (unless it's 888).  I haven't checked into
that one.
