Automation makes your media center accessible in ways you never imagined. Students and teachers can find what they need much quicker and the results are more relevant. Keyword searching provides opportunities to develop problem solving and information literacy connections to the real world. The world of information is expanding to rapidly. It is vital that students have opportunities to be engaged in activities which connect the curriculum with the research process. The card catalog is an antique, just like the Model A Ford. It is a disservice to students and their teachers not to provide them with the best educational opportunities. Libraries use to have their books locked up and users had to make requests. Not being automated keeps a library and its users locked into the past also. Checkout, record keeping, report generation etc. is all automated and information can be gathered quickly which makes operations more efficient and provides accountability. Systems are using friendly. Users more more likely to find what they need, circulation will increase and the media center will be used a whole lot more and can better serve its community. ---------- > From: Rebecca S.
