TARGET:UPPER ELEM: Social studies audio visuals

A 5th grade social studies teacher was lamenting the fact that the science
teachers have all these cool Bill Nye videotapes and there doesn't seem to
be anything like that for social studies.  We're not looking for CD-Roms,
but rather for videotapes or even laserdiscs that could be shown to the
whole class. Stuff that is current, upbeat, and that the kids would really
enjoy and learn from. Our school is grades 5 and 6.  Does anyone have a
recommendation for the "Bill Nye" of social studies?
